NAVARIDAS & DEUTINGER

Marta Navaridas (*San Sebastián) and Alex Deutinger (*Salzburg) both studied Translation, Interpreting and Dance. Marta studied Translation at Pompeu Fabra University Barcelona, Choreography at ArtEZ University Arnhem and Mime at HKA Amsterdam. Alex studied Translation at Karl-Franzens University Graz and Contemporary Dance at the Institute for Dance Arts (IDA) of Anton Bruckner University Linz.

Together, they devised text-based performance works together since 2007. In their projects they are interested in performative methods of manipulating text and movement, and playfully challenge social forms and habitual perceptions. This pair of international touring artists uses dance, theatre and performance venues but also galleries, museums and the outdoors. Since 2020 they have been developing the performance series "Emancipation of Wonder" in collaboration with contemporary art museums.

They are currently based in Graz, Austria.
